What is the difference between Duplication and Replication?
Duplication is a process where lasers "burn" pits into a dye that is manufactured inside the disc. Burning is the process used by the drives in virtually every home or work computer used today. Replication, on the other hand, is an injection molded manufacturing process that makes use of a glass master and stamps the disc image into the extruded polymer.
Will the DVD discs be compatible with DVD players and DVD-ROMs?
For replicated DVD discs, yes; for duplicated DVD-R discs, probably. Some earlier DVD players and DVD-ROM drives were not compatible with DVD recordable media. Most new players and drives are now compatible with DVD-recordable media.
Can I get just 1 copy or do I have to order more than one copy?
Yes, you can order just one copy.
Do you print on adhesive labels or directly on the disc?
We print directly on the disc with many different printing methods. Click here to learn more.
What file format would you prefer for the artwork?
Artwork should be in Adobe Illustrator (eps), Adobe Photoshop (.psd), or a high resolution (min 300 dpi) jpeg (jpg), tiff file (.tif) or a .pdf file. 300 DPI refers to the resolution of the image. All artwork submitted for commercial printing needs to be at least 300 DPI in order to print without pixilation. This is easily set in most design programs.
What is the difference between thermal, inkjet, and silkscreen printing and how do I know which one to choose?
Thermal printing is for 1-color jobs, mainly used for text and logos and is printed on a silver disc. We have the capability to thermal print black, blue, and red. Inkjet printing is for Full Color jobs for quantities less than 500 and is printed on white inkjet printable discs. We have the capability of printing to the hub if needed, as well, as applying a UVC Cured Lacquer Coating. Silkscreen printing is for larger quantities, mainly greater than 500. We can print up to 6-colors for any type of label you may have. Silkscreening involves a process where a screen is made of a piece of porous, finely woven fabric, stretched over a frame. Areas of the screen are blocked off with a non-permeable material to form a stencil, which is a negative of the image to be printed; that is, the open spaces are where the ink will appear. What is the UV Cured Lacquer Coating?
A coating of lacquer or polymer deposited over the printed label on a CD to protect and enhance the label image. The most common method is spin-coating of a UV curable polymer over the surface of the metalized disc and then passing it under ultra-violet light to polymerize it.
I don’t have any disc label or insert artwork set up, but I do have any idea of what I’m looking for; can you create something for me?
I have old movies of my family, can you convert those to DVD and how much will it cost? If you have old movies of your sons or daughters, wedding videos, or anything else you may want to capture on DVD, we can do that for you. We have the capability of playing anything from old ¾” tape to Hi8 tape to VHS. The cost is dependent on the TRT (total run time) of the tape master and how many DVD’s you will want from the conversion.
Would it be OK if I were to supply my own packaging components for packaging, such as inserts or case wraps?
We welcome any client supplied inserts or case wraps when packaging your product. Everything must be cut to size and specs and must assume proper fitting.

What is the difference between a DVD-R and DVD+R and which is better?
These DVDs have different media and methods of recording. Either type will work in most DVD players and will normally work in all computer DVD drives. Promedia Digital recommends that DVD-R be used as they have slightly superior readability properties.
When should I choose a CD or a DVD for my project?
CDs are typically used for audio and data discs when you have less than 700 MB (megabytes) of Data or less than 80 minutes of Audio. CDs can store any type of data, including text, images, audio and video but have less capacity than DVD’s. DVD’s are best for full length movies and high quality video images. They can also be used for data storage. Video DVDs will play in most home DVD players as well as most computers equipped with a DVD reader.
